NANNING, Aug. 22 -- A graphene forum was held in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region which gathered more than 400 researches from different countries including 2010 Nobel Price owner Konstantin Novoselov.

Graphene is the world's strongest and lightest material; a single layer of graphene is just 0.335 nanometers thick with high electrical and thermal conduction, which raises high expectations in the field of  energy, biotechnology, water resources, electronic and network technology, aerospace and automotive industry.

China has applied for more than 2200 graphene patents, accounting for 40 percent in the world. "Chinese companies have developed plenty of graphene applications in areas such as energy storage, paint, and conducting film, so we can expect rapid industrialization," said Shang Yong, standing vice president of the China Association for Science and Technology.

At the ongoing graphene forum in Guangxi's capital Nanning, Professor Konstantin Novoselov said that graphene has led to many possibilities and opportunities, and the new material will be applied in telecommunications and the Internet of things.
